Welcome to B.Lit. I'm so glad you're here.

Here's the thing, some popular “science of reading” advice is outdated...even misguided. Much of what fills instructional time in popular programs and well-intended classrooms is not what actually leads to accurate, fluent reading.

For nearly two decades, I worked in grades 1–5 as an ELA teacher, literacy coordinator, and interventionist in a New York City private school — where first graders arrived each September with no prior reading instruction and just one hour a day to learn to read and write at grade level by January. That constraint sharpened my understanding of what actually works. In my private practice, working with new and struggling readers, I began codifying those insights into the tools and routines that became Cracking the Code — and the results followed.

Although I am trained in Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, Fundations and other popular approaches, I found that no single program was effective or efficient enough for all learners. What did work was clear, focused, research-aligned instruction delivered with intention and expertise. Still, preparing materials took hours. I imagined a tool that could do it all, a single resource that made quality instruction easy for any teacher, tutor, or parent to deliver.

So I built what didn't exist — a single, dry-erase workbook system that puts the best of literacy science directly in your hands, whether you're a teacher, tutor, or parent. We help children read and write the right way, right away through high-impact instruction and practice.
